Video Endoscopy
At Pioneer we have the capability of taking a look inside the horse with video endoscopy. We have a 1.1 meter and a 3.2 meter endoscope. The 1.1 meter scope allows us to visualize the upper respiratory tract, guttural pouches, bladder, and uterus. The 3.2 meter scope lets us dive into the equine esophagus and stomach, where we can look at the different portions of the stomach and diagnose gastric ulcers, and other conditions that may affect the equine stomach. Equine Gastric Ulcer Syndrome (aka EGUS) is a common problem among working and showing horses that often goes untreated.
